Empty

How is it that I am full,
and the next moment I’m empty again?
Part of me wants to stay
Empty.
Because when I’m empty, I can’t feel
all the things that I don’t understand
in me.
And I don’t see quite so plainly
the pain in the eyes of people on the street.
Even now,
I can’t think very clearly.
And I know that this thought I’m writing won’t be complete.
I can feel myself
f a d i n g
drifting off to sleep.
